Where'd all the time go? (Mentor Meeting & Connections Blog)
So, this week has taught me a lot about time management and the ability to plan ahead, two things I have been seemingly running around high school without. Unfortunately I did not meet with my mentor this week, but it wasn't her fault. It was mine. I need to come up with a convenient time for both of us to meet but I haven't really taken the initiative to plan this out. Also, I haven't been giving enough time to my research paper, even though, ever since I've changed my research thesis I've been able to get a lot more work done.
SO, I was thinking, if I want my senior project to be a success, I'm going to need to learn how to manage time correctly. I need to learn how to plan things out and stick to them, which is something Mr. Abrams has been trying to teach us all along. I've got a lot on my plate, with quarterlys this week and a history research paper due Friday, but I need to learn how to manage all my work correctly and prepare properly for all the work coming my way.

Michael I have the same problem, I find it hard to do everything I have to, or even remember to them. Might I suggest an idea my mentor gave me, I write out my week a week before hand in my note pad. When I write out the days, I leave space so that if I need to add, remove, or note something there’s space. I find this to be very helpful for me, or at least when I remember to do it.
ReplyDeleteI admire how you don't make excuses. It takes a real man to realize what he's doing on and act on it. I have the tendancy to concoct a myriad of excuses to nullify the fact that something is my fault. Mr. Egan always made me read a quote from his wall: Make results, not excuses.
ReplyDeleteI need you to snap out of this now. Don't put off tomorrow what you can do today!
ReplyDeleteI think we ALL suffer from a disease called procrastination, so I’m not one to judge. However, as you mentioned, you have to do away with this bad habits being as though we’re going off to college! What I’ve learned is that its all about having a steady pace or work schedule so your not over doing it & won’t burn yourself out. I’ve been using this tactic and so far it’s worked for me so I suggest you give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand Mike. I am a big procrastinator myself, and i am working on breaking that bad habit also. I've learned to set little goals for myself. For example, if something is due on a friday, I make myself believe it's due on wednesday or thursday. Try little tricks to better yourself as a person and as a student.
ReplyDeleteYour a hard working fellow Mike Peak and I can really admire that. Keep up the work and I'll see you at the top.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes find it hard to manage my time. But, I've found that in order to succeed you have to be on time with everything, no matter how small it may be.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased with the community you guys are creating in this classroom.
